Chef Carmen Foy passion for animal welfare, activism and the environment fuels her desire to help people eat a vegan / plant – based diet.
Chef Carmen Foy has traveled the globe as a yacht chef, private chef and instructor for over 12 years. Certified in plant based nutrition and her culinary studies include the CIA in NYC, Cordon Bleu in France and Florence, Italy. Chef has worked on private Islands for high-wealth clients and sailing yachts for racing crew including Olympic sailors. Her family roots are in Spain where she grew up and where her passion for food began. Her grandmother, Julia Barona was a chef and her cooking influences inspire Chef Carmen’s cooking every day. Transitioning from traditional chef to a vegan chef took some adjustments but with a firm grasp on technique, flavors and passion her plant based / vegan cuisine is inspired and delicious. Chef Carmen is also certified in food safety and created one of the first food safety courses for the marine industry and was accepted by the MCA (maritime coastguard agency). Chef Carmen’s passion for culinary, food safety and vegan alternatives all add up to the talented chefs resume. Passion for animal welfare, activism and the environment fuels her desire to help people eat a vegan / plant – based diet. Sprout and Lentils’ tag line FOOD WITH A MISSION is the motto she lives by. Animal welfare and activism are the bases for her cooking and her company.
Chef Carmen’s experience prior to becoming a chef was in the corporate world for over 15 years as a marketing and sales professional at fortune 100 companies such as Mobil Oil and Pfizer. She decided to use her vast culinary training, marketing degree, corporate experience and passion for animals to start her company Sprout and Lentil.
